Flower crowns are becoming increasingly popular, which I’m pretty stoked about. They are not just for festivals anymore but also weddings and even for more casual days when simply wanting to embrace the boho look. I was so excited when one of my friends who is a florist reached out to me, wanting to make a flower crown for a blog post. Isn’t it gorgeous?! To see her other work, visit her Instagram page here. I thought this was such a fun project and so I’ve decided to share how to make a flower crown. I might just have to recreate this one for Coachella this coming weekend!
Supplies: floral tape, scissors and possibly wire cutters, floral wire, greenery and flowers of course! (real or faux)
1. Form a circular shape with the floral wire and measure around the top of your head to see how large the crown needs to be in order to fit loosely. Trim the wire accordingly and use the tape to complete your wire circle.
2. Use the greenery as your base, taping this down first before adding your flowers. Leave the stems at least a few inches long while taping and then you can trim them later. Wrap the tape around each flower at least a few times to ensure that it stays in place.
3. Continue to add greenery and flowers until the wire is covered. Depending on whether you want a more dramatic or subtle look, add as few or as many flowers as you like. This particular crown has a main focal point of roses, but you can also spread the flowers evenly around the crown.
This is such a fun project to get creative with because there are so many variations of the flower crown based on the look that you are wanting.
What event will you be making your flower crown for?
