One great place to pull outfit ideas from is the closet of your boyfriend (or husband or best male friend!). I am a huge fan of menswear inspired looks for women. Think blazers, bomber jackets, button-up tops, trousers, lace up boots and flats, pinstripes, and more masculine accessories such as fedoras, large watches, and leather cuffs. I have been on the lookout for quite a while for a cute wide brim fedora, or an Indiana Jones hat as I like to call it. And once I found this one at Forever 21, this ladylike menswear look was inspired.
This is a more feminine take on menswear, with the skinny jeans, leopard flats, and peter pan collar button-up. While a lot of blazer and trouser options lately may have a masculine feel to their tailoring, they are often both slimmer and the pants cropped, unlike those worn by men. This again lends to a more feminine look. I also love the look of blazers paired with a very structured top and either a skirt or shorts for a ladylike feel. With trends in men’s clothing showing more creativity lately, pulling from women’s fashion through brightly colored and fitted clothing, women should get in on the action and look at the other gender for inspiration as well!
