Happy hump day! Did everyone have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend? What did you do over the holiday? I finally took my own advice (for once) from my last post and spent the weekend relaxing and reading by the pool.
A debate that I have frequently heard is whether or not stripes and plaid can be worn in combination with one another. Well in my opinion, they can! And this can be done with sophistication too. It is not necessarily an easy look to pull off because the colors and more importantly the scales of the patterns must be just right. Because the plaid in this top is simpler than most, it is a bit more effortless to pair than say a busy flannel shirt. Both the shorts and top in this outfit have white and navy blue in them which makes their pairing look more deliberate. And as far as scale, the thicker navy stripes in the shorts balance out the smaller, tighter pattern in the plaid top. While I would probably limit my plaid to just one item in any given outfit, I definitely say try this pattern out along with some stripes!
